Every year, after Christmas, I get a little burnt out, where I just make what I absolutely have to. This year was no exception. Then, I had to work on quilts that I can’t post yet as they are gifts, but now? Now I have something I can share!! This is a practice run for a quilt I’ll be making for charity work, and I had these rainbow woven plaid cottons sitting around for a while, and they called out to be used for this.
On with the pics!!
Whole thing… I love this!!
That thing to the left is the back of a futon that I had taken apart, and put it on end to make into a quilt rack. It works REALLY really well.
Some detail like shots…
I think this will be amazingly striking with different fabric too. I DO love the way it came out!
Fabulous!! And it really warms my heart that some deserving charity is going to get some of your work. You make me smile. ๐
Actually, they will be getting two. One that size, and a queen size. And if I can get my stuff together, I’ll be sending a bunch of quilts to sell. The amusing part? It’s for a charity motorcycle ride. They do an auction kinda thing, and have vendors and stuff ๐
That is an amazing design, Chaela. And the futon/quilt rack thing is quite ingenious. We are in awe.
Very cool, Chael. I’ve not seen anything like this before.
HOW did you do that?
Looks so kewl…
Fabrics are on their way!

Rhea
Want me to see if Shawn can scan my pattern notes and email them to you?
Can’t WAIT to get my fabric!!!
Stunning work! (Again, friends with Linda & Pat) What an outstanding gift you have and how well you use you abilities! I have checked here regularly anxiously awaiting more of your work!
For years, I saved the dress of the year (or 2) that my older daughter wore, (she’s now 17), and have passed them on to my youngest, who is now 9.
I always had hoped to make them each a quilt somehow out of these dresses-yet have my hands in too many other projects-may never learn to quilt.
Would you consider creating something possibly with them, once my youngest has gone through wearing them all? They vary in color and patterns, of course, etc.
I know you could make something beautiful, Chaela! Let me know!
Thanks!
Pauline
OMG, how did you do that? It’s incredible.
